Built in the traditional Catalan design, the architecture has porticos, terraces, towers, and low roof lines. It opened in 1932 with only 11 rooms. Today Hostal de La Gavina boasts 74 sumptuous rooms and suites, each a little different with old world charm but modern amenities, marble bathrooms and double sinks. Many have terraces with spectacular sea views. The property is a showcase for the family’s antiques and objects d’art. Old blends with new in a subtle and timeless fashion.

The Camino de Ronda, is an easy walking path that follows the coastline and afford views of the Mediterranean, the rugged cliffs and coves. While on the Costa Brava, you can visit the Dali Triangle- the Castell de Pubol, the fisherman’s house and the world famous Dali museum in Figueres.

The town of Girona is only 45 minutes away and you can see the new town, and then visit the ‘old Medieval town’ with it’s winding streets, Jewish quarter, shops, restaurants, the Arab baths, and the Sant Pere de Galligants monastery. In the Girona area you can find 12 Michelin star restaurants. The #2 restaurant in the world is here El Celler de Can Roca.

Other villages nearby are Pals, Peratallada, Palafrugell, Ullastret-all retain the charm of their medieval origin. A visit to the botanical gardens with it’s 4000 species of plants is quite memorable.
